Belarusian Embassy honors victims of Great Patriotic War

Islamabad, 23 June 2023 (TDI): The Belarusian embassy staff in Islamabad conducted a special event on June 22, 2023. The purpose of the event was to remember the national memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people.

The Embassy joined the All-Belarusian for a Minute of Silence to pay tribute to the souls who lost their lives during these tragic events.

During an event held on June 22nd at the Brest Fortress, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the undeniable sovereignty of the Belarusian state.

The president said during his address that: “Those who left us are with us today. They are looking at us from there [the sky] and assessing our actions. We tell them that their heroic past has become a symbol of our independence. Their way of life is an example in which we find the strength to overcome the challenges not only of our time but also of the times to come”

In this event held in Embassy, different diplomats and embassy personnel gathered to honor the memory of those who suffered and perished during the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people. It was an opportunity to accept the immense sacrifices made by countless individuals and express solidarity with the Belarusian nation.

Minute of silence

In the brief opening ceremony, embassy officials and staff observed a minute of silence to show their respect for the fallen heroes. The solemn atmosphere was filled with a deep sense of reverence and shared grief. By participating in the All-Belarusian Minute of Silence, the embassy demonstrated its solidarity toward the nation in commemorating this day of remembrance.
