Minsk, 16 November 2021 (TDI): A diplomatic exchange between Sajjad Haider Khan, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus, and Andrei Savinykh, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of Belarusian Parliament, recently took place in Minsk, capital of Belarus.

The meeting took place at the Pakistani Embassy, in Minsk. The two held discourse on bilateral relations between both countries, on 12 November.

Khan has been serving the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP) for 21 years, engaging in conferences and seminars to strengthen Pakistani ties with the International community. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has visited Pakistan twice in 2015 and 2016. He held talks with the President and Prime Minister of the time, Mamnoon Hussain and Nawaz Sharif, respectively. Both countries strengthened their alliance by initiating joint ventures in the textile, pharmaceutical, and lighting solution industries. Through these projects, they were able to share technical knowledge and skills, consequently improving both countries’ economies.

Both officials also talked about the education sector. At the National University of Modern Languages located in Islamabad, Pakistan, a center of the Belarusian Language and Culture was opened in 2016 and its counterpart of Urdu Language in Minsk State Linguistic University. This showcases that educational ties between both countries are strong.

Khan also mentioned having discussed other areas of mutual interest, not disclosing what these are.
