Minsk, 16 November 2021 (TDI): A diplomatic exchange between Sajjad Haider Khan, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus, and Andrei Savinykh, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of Belarusian Parliament, recently took place in Minsk, capital of Belarus.

The meeting took place at the Pakistani Embassy, in Minsk. The two held discourse on bilateral relations between both countries, on 12 November.

KHAN’S BACKGROUND AND MEETING

Khan has been serving the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP) for 21 years, engaging in conferences and seminars to strengthen Pakistani ties with the International community. In his recent interaction with Savinykh of Belarus, the two discussed the parliamentary cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus. They also touched upon economic and educational links between both countries.

VISIT OF BELARUSIAN PRESIDENT 

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has visited Pakistan twice in 2015 and 2016. He held talks with the President and Prime Minister of the time, Mamnoon Hussain and Nawaz Sharif, respectively. Both countries strengthened their alliance by initiating joint ventures in the textile, pharmaceutical, and lighting solution industries. Through these projects, they were able to share technical knowledge and skills, consequently improving both countries’ economies.

KHAN AND SAVINYKH CONVERSATION

In his conversation with Savinykh, Foreign Service Officer Khan reviewed the progress of these joint ventures and their impact on the financial state of the two countries. Both officials also talked about the education sector. At the National University of Modern Languages located in Islamabad, Pakistan, a center of the Belarusian Language and Culture was opened in 2016 and its counterpart of Urdu Language in Minsk State Linguistic University. This showcases that educational ties between both countries are strong.

Khan also mentioned having discussed other areas of mutual interest, not disclosing what these are. 

KHAN’S PREVIOUS COMMITMENTS 

Khan also attended the 27th International Trade fair ProdExpo2021. In the ProdExpo 2021, exchanged words with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Alexander Subbotin. Both discussed matters on education and trade, and the good state of the Pakistan-Belarus relations.
