Moscow, 5 September 2022 (TDI): Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan have released statements condemning the Kabul blast outside the Russian Embassy.

The blast was a suicide bombing and it killed two Russian diplomats out of many. The blast injured public people as well. No one has taken any responsibility for the suicide bombing. The Taliban government is in contact with the Russian government to know further about the attack.

Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan share good diplomatic relations with Russia. The states have issued statements in condolence to the dead diplomats and their families.

Statement by Belarus

The Foreign Ministry of Belarus stated, “Colleagues, we express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the Russian diplomats killed in the terrorist attack in Kabul. We mourn with you”.

Statement by Uzbekistan

The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan stated, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan condemned the terrorist act near the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan, which killed members of the Russian diplomatic mission and citizens of Afghanistan.”

Statement by Azerbaijan              

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan stated, “We are saddened by the news of the death of 2 Russian diplomats, as well as the Afghan citizens as a result of the terrorist attack on the embassy of the Russian Federation in Kabul on September 5, 2022. As a state that has faced terrorism, Azerbaijan strongly condemns all forms and manifestations of terrorism. Attempts on the lives of diplomats are unacceptable.

We express our condolences to the family members and relatives of those who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attack and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

 The Kabul Blast

The spokesperson of the Kabul Police, Khalid Zadran stated;

“Today at around 11 o’clock in the afternoon, a suicide bomber near the Russian embassy in the 7th district of Kabul city, who wanted to detonate himself in the crowd, but before reaching his goal, the security forces targeted him, which caused the explosion occurred.

One civilian was martyred and 10 others were injured in the incident. Security forces have cordoned off the area and comprehensive investigations are underway.”
