Babar Azam Confirmed as White-Ball Captain Until 2025

Islamabad (TDI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed Babar Azam as the white-ball captain until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

This decision was announced in a statement on Sunday. In the same statement, the cricket board said it will host a special “Connection Camp” on Monday (today) to be attended by senior players and key coaching staff.

This confirmation put to rest the speculation about the change of captaincy, especially after a series of underwhelming performances, including an early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and a home Test series loss to Bangladesh.

This move is crucial in the backdrop of Pakistan’s preparations to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 where Babar Azam’s leadership will be pivotal.

The camp that took place in Lahore today, aimed to revive and refocus Pakistan cricket, the board said.

“The primary objective is to reignite the pride and excellence synonymous with Pakistan cricket since its inception as a Test-playing nation in 1952,” the cricket board said in a statement.
