Doha, 6 March 2023 (TDI): Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, attended the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Qatar.

In his opening remarks, Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of international cooperation and solidarity to address the challenges the least developed countries face. Bayramov believes the summit seeks solutions to these nations’ poverty, disease & conflict.

He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to achieving sustainable development for LDCs through the implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts in providing development assistance to the LDCs, particularly in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

He underscored the need for innovative financing mechanisms and increased public-private partnerships to address the financing gap in the LDCs.

He stated that the LDC5 summit allows the international community to expedite sustainable development in these countries. Furthermore, he noted it guarantees that no one is left behind in the drive for global growth.

Foreign Minister’s participation in the LDC5 conference demonstrates Azerbaijan’s commitment to developing the least developed countries and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
