Azerbaijani Defense Minister calls on Pakistan’s Prime Minister

The Defense Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

Islamabad, 21 March 2022 (TDI): The Defense Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan noted that the strong and robust defense ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are but one facet of the brotherly ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed the desire to further augment these fraternal relations with a particular focus on bilateral trade, people-to-people contacts, and tourism.

In addition, Prime Minister Imran Khan lauded the contribution of Azerbaijan in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), primarily as an active member of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.

Imran Khan also congratulated the leadership as well as the people of Azerbaijan on the liberation of their occupied territories in the Nagorno Karabakh region.

He also appreciated Azerbaijan’s efforts in the pursuit of the ideal of peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. Azerbaijan has been a significant player to maintain peace in the region.

Whilst the Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Hasanov on his part expressed the greetings from the President of Azerbaijan to the Prime Minister. Moreover, he also informed about a contingent of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces participating in the National Day Parade.

Every year Pakistan holds a National Day Parade on 23rd March, Pakistan Day. Pakistan Day is a public holiday and is celebrated annually on March 23rd in Pakistan.

Pakistan Day or Pakistan Resolution Day commemorates the ‘Lahore Resolution’ of 1940, which eventually led to the creation of Pakistan. The celebrations include early morning military and civilian parades in Islamabad with gun salutes in Islamabad as well as provincial capitals.
