Baku, 10 August 2022 (TDI): Professional football club of Azerbaijan that competes in the Azerbaijan Premier League, Qarabag FK (Futbol Klubu), has reached the play-off stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Qarabaq FK, more commonly known as FC Qarabag, achieved this feat after defeating Hungary’s Ferencvaros team in the UEFA Champions League qualifying round. The final score card of the match between the two teams was 3-1 in favor of FC Qarabaq.
The summary of the match is such that just seven minutes into the match, Qarabaq’s attacking midfielder, Abdellah Zoubir, scored the opening goal of the match, giving them the lead.
Later, Ibrahim Wajidi of FC Qarabag scored the 2nd and 3rd goals of the match in the 54th and 78th minutes to give an assailable lead to Azerbaijan’s FC Qarabag.
Ferencvaro could only score a goal in the 86th minute of the match when Marquinhos scored a consolation goal.
The play-off matches will be the next step in qualifying for the main group stage of the UEFA Champions League. Play-off matches are scheduled for 16-17 August and 23-24 August.
Past Achievements of FC Qarabag
FC Qarabag was one of the founding members of the Azerbaijan Premier League in 1992. The team has won the Azerbaijan Premier League a record nine times.
At the UEFA Champions League, FC Qarabag has also appeared four times in the qualifying rounds. In the 2017-18 season of the Champions League, Qarabag became the first Azerbaijani team to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
In addition, FC Qarabag has played more matches in UEFA competitions than any other Azerbaijani team.
