Baku, 4 April 2023 (TDI): Azerbaijan marked the International Day for Mine Awareness under “Mine Action Cannot Wait.”
The international community commemorates this day on April 4 to raise awareness of the dangers of landmines and the measures being taken to eliminate them.

Azerbaijan is committed to the global abolition of landmines. It holds those who install mines indiscriminately and refuse to participate in their removal accountable. Landmines severely threaten people’s lives, causing severe injury or even death.

The nation is devoted to fostering peace and stability in the area. It has made great strides in eliminating landmines. It has made substantial efforts toward landmine clearance. The country has also already cleared enormous landmines in freed regions.
The National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) of Azerbaijan is aggressively attempting to rid the remaining areas of landmines. It aspires to see Azerbaijan free of landmines soon.
Azerbaijan calls on all nations to join together in the global effort to eliminate landmines and other explosive remnants of war.
The ongoing conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh has left behind a dangerous legacy of unexploded ordnance that threatens the safety and security of the civilian population.
Despite several international appeals to remove these mines, Armenia refuses to assist in their removal. The government of Azerbaijan strongly denounces Armenia’s activities. It holds them responsible for the many fatalities they take on human life.
The state urged Armenia to take responsibility for the landmines they laid in the region and work with international organizations to remove them.
The country stressed cooperating to eradicate landmines to stop the awful loss of life and limb they cause. It remains dedicated to promoting a world free of landmines.
It also advised other states to stand up to this threat. The high human cost of landmines cannot be overstated. It also encouraged the international community must act quickly to alleviate this threat.
Azerbaijan is eager to collaborate with all nations and organizations to create a world free from the hazards of landmines.
