Baku, 29 September 2022 (TDI): The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan declared the following year, 2023, the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. The coming year would mark the 100th anniversary of the national leader.
Heydar Aliyev is the national leader and the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan. He was a politician and a statesman.
According to the Decree signed by the President of the Republic of #Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, 2023 is declared as “Year of Heydar Aliyev”.

Statement of the President of Azerbaijan:
President Ilham Aliyev praised the founding father for his struggle and intelligence, in his statement. He said, “Heydar Aliyev is a powerful personality who successfully brought his people out of the time’s complex historical and political trials and brought them to independence through consistent struggle. The people of Azerbaijan entered the new century and the new millennium precisely in the light of Heydar Aliyev’s intelligence. Modern Azerbaijan, confidently advancing on the path of continuous progress, is a celebration of Heydar Aliyev’s life work.”
The President further commended the role of Heydar Aliyev in independent state building. He also highlighted the inexhaustible state management talent of the national father. He said that the leader had a strong political will and unshakable conviction. Furthermore, President Aliyev reminded how the national leader of the state was one of the leaders of the USSR.
The President of Azerbaijan said that the founding father “Saved our country from the clutches of socio-political fragmentation and anarchy, prevented the deep decline observed in all areas, rebuilt it, and freed it from all kinds of plots. He determined the path of sustainable development of the state it protects.”
At the end of his statement, the president announced the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding father. President Aliyev said, “I decide to ensure the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, at the state level:
- Declare 2023 as the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
- The Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan should prepare and submit to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan within two months the proposals regarding the plan of actions related to the declaration of 2023 as the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
