Gender-based Violence
Gender-based violence is a global challenge that has emerged more prominently during the lockdown imposed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The entire world is struggling to curb violence against women. A joint effort at the international, regional, and state-level can prevent gender-based violence, respectively.
In a tweet the Australian High Commissioner, Dr. Geoffrey Shaw expressed solidarity with the UN Women Country Representative for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sharmeela Rassool.
I stand with Sharmeela Rasool and all members of society to stop violence against women now. Australia and Pakistan are working together to prevent gender-based violence and address the inequalities that drive it. #16Days #OrangeTheWorld https://t.co/esXld2JU9J

Australia and Pakistan are committed to working in collaboration for the elimination of violence against women as well as the inequalities it stems from. Earlier, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was also internationally observed on November 25th. The day represents the global struggle against such violence.
A 16 Days international campaign is also being observed as part of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The campaign aims to challenge violence perpetrated against women and girls.
It starts from 25th November, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, up till the Human Rights Day on 10 December, every year.
