Islamabad (TDI): The ambassador of Austria to Pakistan, Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera, welcomed the participants of the 6th International Young Diplomats School (IYDS), on Tuesday, at the Austrian residence.
This visit marked the formal beginning of the three-day school organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) every year, to support public diplomacy outreach of the foreign diplomatic missions based in Pakistan as well as to give students of International Relations (IR) and mid-career professionals a direct exposure to the world of diplomacy.
For a day packed with multiple visits to embassies, the cohort received a warm welcome by the Austrian ambassador, who took keen interest in getting to know the participants.
The ambassador was delighted to discover the diverse backgrounds of the IYDS participants, who hail from various regions and provinces of Pakistan.
In a candid and interactive discussion, Ambassador Kutschera shared valuable perspectives on the enduring Pakistan–Austria relationship and highlighted avenues for collaboration in education, business, and tourism.
He elaborated on Austria’s engagement with Pakistan via the embassy, and how the Austrian diplomatic mission in Islamabad facilitates and amplifies the engagement.
Organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), the 6th Edition of IYDS brings together diverse young professionals, students, and faculty members from across Pakistan.
The school offers the cohort a unique platform to engage with diplomatic missions, learn about global opportunities, and strengthen people-to-people ties.
