Miranshah (TDI): Pakistan Army is working hard to enhance capabilities of newly established structure of police in North Waziristan.
In this connection a special five-day training program was organized by Pakistan Army for Police in Miranshah, North Waziristan.
The objective of the training was to enhance the technical capabilities and professional skills of North Waziristan’s police, according to official statement.
The police personnel were trained in the use of various arms as well as hand grenades. They also received training in firing during the night.

Bomb disposal, VIP protection, and firing from moving vehicles were also part of the training.
North Waziristan was developed as a district as part of the reforms in FATA, formerly known as Federally Administered Tribal Areas. It was the largest tribal areas out the seven FATA tribal areas at that time and once it was considered as hub of top militants in the region with TTP headquartered in the area.
It was also volatile region along Afghan border that was notorious for cross border infiltration few years back. Still, the area is witnessing attacks and terrorism in the bordering zone and other parts.

The area was cleared by Pakistani military as a part of operation Zarb-e-Azb and later made a district as FATA was abolished.
FATA was established during British era as a buffer zone between Afghanistan and British India for keeping Russian influence at bay.
