Phnom Penh, 17 April 2023 (TDI): The Angkor Sankranta 2023 attracted around 1,750,000 people this year, according to the Provincial Department of Tourism of Cambodia.
The event was conducted in the complex of Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province on the occasion of the Khmer Traditional New Year from April 14 to 16, 2023.
This three-day event is one of the most celebrated cultural events in Cambodia.
The festival is held annually in the ancient capital city of Cambodia, Siem Reap, and attracts thousands of visitors from across the country and the globe.
Siem Reap province had a total of 2,120,373 national and international visitors over the Khmer New Year vacation, with about 2,107,000 being national tourists and locals and 13,373 being foreigners.
The Phnom Koulen National Park, Tonle Sap zone, and community-based tourism attractions were also popular among visitors on the occasion.

The Angkor Sankranta is a spectacular celebration of Cambodian culture and traditions, featuring traditional music and dance performances, religious ceremonies, and ceremonies paying homage to ancestors and predecessors.
Traditional markets operate across the city during the event, and food vendors fill the city streets.
The illuminated Angkor temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the festival’s focal point, and it is lit up every night throughout the three-day celebration.
At the temples, traditional Khmer music and shadow puppetry acts are performed, and tourists may participate in a variety of activities like as boat races, traditional blessing ceremonies, elephant rides, and more.
In addition to being a great way to experience Cambodian culture and tradition, the festival has become an important economic hub for the city of Siem Reap, bringing in an estimated 1.75 million visitors this year.
The influx of visitors contributes to local businesses and advances the Siem Reap tourism industry.
