Islamabad, 2 February 2023 (TDI): The Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, Adam Tugio visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), on Wednesday.
Tugio held discussions with the acting President of ICCI, Faad Waheed and the executive members. They also discussed ways to find new ways for the Indonesian and Pakistani business communities to collaborate on mutually beneficial trade transactions.
Remarks by participants
Ambassador Tugio encouraged the Pakistani business delegation to visit Indonesia to gain knowledge of the country’s potential for investment.
He went on to say that Indonesia and Pakistan have a long history of friendship and mutual cooperation. The ICCI’s visit would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Tugio emphasized the importance of utilizing the existing Indonesia-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement and working toward the establishment of a bilateral Free Trade Agreement.
The Envoy also stressed the importance of the ASEAN market. In this vein, Tugio said, “Due to its strategic location and investment ties with the ASEAN region, Indonesia provides an ideal platform for Pakistani businesses to access the ASEAN market.”
“We are eager to showcase tremendous investment opportunities in Indonesia. I am confident that visiting Jakarta will result in significant trade and investment deals between both nations’ business communities.” The Ambassador reiterated.
Tugio also mentioned the interest of the business community of Indonesia in investing in Special Economic Zones in Pakistan, citing the improved infrastructure of CPEC.

He stated that the Indonesian Embassy is fully prepared to facilitate business-to-business meetings between Pakistani businessmen and their Indonesian counterparts.
In concluding remarks, Tugio expressed gratitude and praise for ICCI’s significant contribution to fostering economic ties between the two countries.
During his turn, Faad Waheed stated that Indonesia & Pakistan should encourage regular trade delegation exchanges. He reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad.
Waheed highlighted Pakistan’s potential investment sectors, which include information technology, tourism, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.
