Rawalpindi, 18 April 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Nicolae Goia met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The meeting was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, today. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss matters pertaining to mutual interest and regional security situations.

The two officials also deliberated upon the latest situation in Afghanistan along with enhancing bilateral cooperation with Romania, during the meeting.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa on his part reiterated that Pakistan values its ties with the European Union (EU) countries and earnestly looks forward to improving mutually advantageous multifarious linkages based on common interests.

Along these lines, both dignitaries affirmed the wish to further boost bilateral ties in all domains. Whilst Ambassador Nicolae Goia on his part lauded Pakistan’s role in regional stability.

In addition, the Romanian Ambassador pledged to play his role in the further advancement of diplomatic collaboration with Pakistan at all levels.

Pakistan-Romania ties

Diplomatic relations between Romania and Pakistan were established in 1964. Ever since, the two states have had uninterrupted cordial and mutually beneficial diplomatic ties. Romania has also contributed to the development of the Pakistani economy.

In this context, the country has aided Pakistan by building cement factories, refineries, and a tractor assembly factory as well as many other projects in various fields.

Aside from that, the two countries also collaborate in the cultural, developmental, defense, and educational fields. Many Pakistani students are pursuing their studies in Romania.

New avenues for collaboration are also being explored for greater interaction and involvement of the private sector. Resultantly, it is expected that trade volume will increase between Pakistan and Romania.
