Islamabad, 17 September 2022 (TDI): On the occasion of the Arbaeen walk, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Pakistan, Hamed Abbas Laftah, issued a statement greeting all the Pakistani citizens visiting Iraq for the walk and the officials who eased the difficulties and attempted to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of the visitors.
The statement:
We extend our sincere greetings to the Islamic nation, and to the visitors of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the holy city of Karbala, especially my brothers and sisters, the visitors from the brotherly Pakistani people.
Today, the Arbaeen visit is about to come to an end, after millions of people celebrated their rituals in memory of the incident of Taff smoothly and safely, and the Iraqi government and people offered what they had of planing , security , services,hospitality and generosity to all visitors from all over the world.
Official statistics have recorded that the total number of visitors to the Arbaeen of this year amounted to 21,189,640 visitors from 86 countries.
We had the honor of making groups of nearly ( 30,000 ) Thirty Thousand Pakistani brothers and sisters visitors.
On this occasion, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the officials in the Pakistani Army Command, the Prime Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, and the Ministry of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource, who facilitated the difficulties and endeavored to secure the comfort and dignity of the visitors.
We wish visitors a comfortable, safe and secure return.

The Arbaeen Walk:
The Arbaeen Walk or Karbala Walk, is the biggest yearly public gathering in the world. It takes place at Karbala, Iraq after the conclusion of the 40-day period of mourning following Ashura, the religious rite commemorating the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
