Ulaanbaatar, 10 November 2021 (TDI): The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Mongolia, Axelle Nicaise presented her credentials to the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh.

The President, whilst accepting her letter of credence thanked the EU for its unwavering support to Mongolia. Ever since the country’s transition to democracy and market economy, the EU has continuously supported Mongolia.

During the meeting, the two discussed the expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation in environmental protection and green development. Recently, the Mongolian President attended the COP26 in an effort to tackle Climate Change.

The President appreciated the EU and its member states for fun finding the COVAX facility. The COVAX facility has significantly helped developing countries overcome the COVID-19 pandemic with a minimum loss.

The EU Ambassador on her part expressed readiness to continue implementing the EU’s Multiannual Indicative Program for Mongolia. EU and Mongolia will jointly collaborate on economic development as well as sustainable green development.

She assured him of the EU’s support to Magnolia against the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of the Partnership & Cooperation Agreement between the two.

The relations with the EU are vital for Mongolia because of economic and political collaboration between the two. The EU has consistently helped the country. The Member States of the EU are their third-largest trading partner.

The two collaborate on the transfer of experience and expertise; as well as potential new markets. Mongolian goods have tariff-free access to the EU because of the  Generalised System of Preferences (GSP+).
