Tehran, 18 August 2021 (TDI): On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee anniversary of two ancient civilizations China and Iran, the ambassador of China to Iran, Chang Hua, penned down an article in Tehran Times titled “Side by side and hand in hand, usher in a new era for China-Iran friendship”. The article focused on the origin, historical background, and recent developments of the relations between China and Iran.
The Ambassador mentioned that the China-Iran diplomatic relations officially began after signing a joint declaration on 16 August 1971, in Islamabad. The official ties are 50-years old, but the relations can be traced back from 2000 years ago. While referring to the historical links between the two states he highlighted the relation between Han Dynasty and the Parthian Empire, poet Saadi Shirazi and his poems on Kashgar, and Ming Dynasty and the Hormuz region.

Moreover, Chang also mentioned areas of bilateral cooperation between Beijing and Tehran over the past 50 years. Some of the significant areas he mentioned are: the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2016 resulted in “the opening of a new chapter” in the history of two countries; Increase trade volume between China and Iran through economic partnership; China’s continuous support to Iran among the international community; and cooperation in developmental projects like “One Belt, One Road”.
He mentioned that China wants to keep pace with Iran, while taking advantage of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries, by strengthening cooperation in various fields, to deepen and to realize the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Iran.
