Afghan Foreign Minister meets Special Representative of UK Prime Minister

Kabul, 5 October 2021 (TDI): Afghanistan’s newly-appointed Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Special Representative of the British Prime Minister, Simon Gass.

Both sides discussed different ways to improve bilateral ties. Afghanistan and the UK want to revive their diplomatic relations. They hope to maintain relations that are for the betterment of both states.

Recently the United Kingdom increased humanitarian and development funding to Afghanistan. It was to help millions of people affected by the war, drought, and COVID-19. This brings the entire UK aid for Afghanistan to £286 million this year. Making it one of the largest bilateral programs. Rapid Deployment Teams from the UK government have been dispatched to Kabul. It is to assist UK personnel on the ground in processing and arranging these departures.
