Islamabad (TDI): Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain has stressed replication of the models of countries that sucessfully introduce affordable housing solutions for its citizens.
According to Radio Pakistan, in his address on the occasion of an event in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the housing needs must be addressed on urgent basis in view of growing population.
Some Countries have achieved remarkable progress in fulfilling housing needs by affordable housing solutions and made progress in real estate through innovative ideas, he said.
The minister said that the youth are our invaluable asset and their involvement in the real estate sector will bring new dimensions to the sector.

Pakistan is witnessing a severe housing shortage, with over 2.1 million homes needed to accommodate families and individuals, according to the Academy of Research.
The report reveals that 38.3 million people require adequate housing, including 2.52 million seeking homes in urban areas.
Moreover, 13 million live in overcrowded spaces, and 10 million families reside in substandard housing.
Affordable Housing Solutions in the Past
Since long, surveys and experts has been highlighting shortage of proper houses in Pakistan, one of the world’s top countries with rapid population growth.

Yet, this key public issue remained ignored in a volatile landscape of the country, though the government in 2019, at least, showed its sensitivity for housing need in Pakistan announcing certain schemes with no significant results.
The previous set-up had vowed to build 5 million houses for lower income families under government’s housing scheme, but its complete implementation is still awaited.
