Warsaw, 6 May 2022 (TDI): During the Warsaw Pledging High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine, the United States (US) announced $387 million in extra humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The aid will be provided through the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This decision was made in response to the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine, which has resulted in massive displacement and humanitarian needs.

On March 24, the United States President announced the provision of more than $1 billion in humanitarian aid. The money went to people affected by Russia’s war in Ukraine and its global consequences, notably a sharp increase in food shortages.

Today’s announcement is a step toward that goal, as well as an acknowledgement of ongoing worldwide needs. People in Ukraine’s hard-to-reach areas will receive life-saving food assistance as a result of this increased help.

People living in areas with functioning markets will also receive cash transfers. Safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene will be provided as a result of this assistance.

It will also provide critical medical supplies and health care, as well as humanitarian coordination support. The region’s Disaster Assistance Response Team continues to manage USAID’s humanitarian response.

The Team also collaborates with the USAID partners to fulfill the needs of the most vulnerable. The United States is Ukraine’s greatest single supplier of humanitarian aid.

Since the beginning of Russia’s incursion on February 24, the US has supplied $688 million in humanitarian assistance. People in Ukraine and those who have migrated to neighboring nations have benefited from the funding.

Food, safe drinking water, shelter, emergency health treatment, as well as medical supplies are all included.

USAID Developmental Activities

In response to cyber attacks and dangers to energy infrastructure, USAID has increased development activities. The initiative also fights misinformation and supports small businesses and the agricultural sector.

Another focus area of the program is documenting human rights breaches, meeting vital health needs, and ensuring the continuing operation of local and national government bodies.

Finally, Administrator Power stated that the United States will continue to support the people of Ukraine. Shared values such as self-determination, freedom, and human dignity will be upheld with support.
