Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) launched

Islamabad: July 03, 2021 – (TDI):  The first-ever Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program in Pakistan, was launched today in Islamabad by the US Embassy. More than 70 Pakistani women entrepreneurs, who came to celebrate the launch were welcomed by Minister Counselor for Public Affairs of the US Embassy in Islamabad, Ray Castillo. Withholding the US commitment to support women to establish their own enterprises, this launch is another step ahead for Pakistani women. It will pave a pathway of empowerment, economic independence, and stability for the people of Pakistan, especially the women. Mr. Castillo appreciated the Pakistani businesswomen, for their resilience, hard work, and determination to be successful.

Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program will provide its participants with a three-month-long, diligent online course. Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and Freeport McMoran, an American natural resource company have developed the DreamBuilder platform, which will be utilized to undertake the online study course. The aim of this program is to impart a sense of understanding of entrepreneurship, and to maximize the chances of funding and business expansion opportunities. The AWE program will be led by the four US Mission to Pakistan’s Lincoln Corners, situated in Larkana, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, with the assistance of Pakistan American Cultural Center and the DOVE Foundation. At the end of the program, the participants can compete to win a certain amount of funding from the US Mission to kick start their businesses. Moreover, after the program, their journey of growth opportunities will not end, as they will be a part of the global AWE network.
