FM Italy meets his Argentinian counterpart

Calabria, 11 October 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Italy Luigi Di Maio met his Argentinian counterpart, Santiago Cafiero.

Both ministers conversed on the bilateral ties and recalled the joint ventures while calling for the consolidation of the relationship.

The MERCOSUR agreement was the main agenda of discussion under which both ministers put forward the need to bolster and revive multilateralism.

The World Trade Organization’s 12th Ministerial, upcoming, the conference was also discussed. Moreover, the 10th Italy-Latin and Caribbean Conference agenda was also debated.

 MERCOSUR and its purpose:

MERCOSUR is a South American trade bloc that was established in 1991 after the Treaty of Asuncion and Protocol of Ouro Preto in 1994. The manifesto of this trade bloc is to promote free trade and the smooth movement of goods, people, and currency. Argentina is one of its permanent members.
