Pakistani Zaireen’s Mortal Remains Arrive from Iran

Jaccobabad, 24 August 2024 (TDI): In a special plane, the mortal remains of 28 Pakistani zaireen who perished in a bus accident in Yazd, Iran have arrived in Pakistan. It also transported 16 Pakistani citizens who were injured in the accident.

Details of the Accident

In an unfortunate accident on August 20,  a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims overturned in Iran, resulting in the deaths of at least 28 passengers. The accident occurred in Iran’s central province of Yazd and was attributed to a faulty braking system. Most of the unfortunate victims of the accident were from Larkana,  Kashmore,  Khairpur, Kambar-Shahdadkot,  and Karachi. Following the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued special instructions to assist the families of the victims. He also directed the Pakistan mission in Tehran to offer all possible support and assistance to those affected. The tragedy has left people in both countries deeply shocked and grieving.

Funeral Held and Bodies Returned to Families

On Friday night, a C-130 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) carrying mortal remains of Zaireen arrived in Jacoobad. The plane was received by the Provincial Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Director General Laison Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Karachi, Irfan Soomro. Upon reaching, the funeral of the deceased was offered and the dead bodies were handed over to their heirs. The injured citizens were transported to Chandka Hospital in Larkana for further treatment. Special arrangements were made, including ambulances for the injured and air ambulances for those in critical condition.

Before departure, Governor Mehran Fatemi and Imam Juma of Yazd paid their respects to the deceased at Yazd airport. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan extended its appreciation to the Iranian authorities for their significant support in rescuing and repatriating Pakistani nationals.
