Islamabad, 26 August 2024 (TDI): Pakistan and Azerbaijan have discussed the prospects of bilateral economic and trade ties and further expanding cooperation in different sectors of the economy.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov called on Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan here in Islamabad on Sunday.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest including bilateral ties and the overall situation of the region were discussed in detail.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman Senate said that Pakistan valued its fraternal ties with Azerbaijan and there was a need to increase cooperation between the two nations in the fields of economic and trade, energy, defence, investment, agriculture and natural resources.
He said that there was an urgent need to promote investment and trade between the two nations and it was necessary to remove the existing obstacles for the improvement of the economy.
He said that Parliamentary and institutional cooperation could be helpful in promoting relations at the public level.
Stressing on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, the deputy chairman said that Pakistan would further promote economic relations with Azerbaijan.
Syedaal Khan said that trade and investment opportunities could be found through frequent exchanges of delegations in business sectors.
He further said that Pakistan, particularly Balochistan was rich in mineral wealth and would prove to be important in changing the destiny of the region.
He added that Pakistan would prove to be the economic and trade hub of the region and Investors and businessmen from all over the globe should take advantage of the investment opportunities in the country.

The deputy chairman enate said that ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan were based on religious and cultural values.
Emphasis was placed on the work of the delegations for the the promotion of exchanges.
Syedaal Khan said that the parliaments had a heavy responsibility for peace and development in the region.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov agreed with the views of the Deputy Chairman of the Senate and said that Azerbaijan was keen to further develop its ties with Pakistan.
They agreed to prepare an early action plan for the exchange of delegations in business sectors while emphasizing the need for institutional cooperation.
