Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Iran strengthen bilateral ties

Islamabad, 5 January 2024 (TDI): In a productive telephone conversation on January 4, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, explored areas of shared concern and reaffirmed the strength of their bilateral relations.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan Jilani articulated Pakistan’s deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Occupied Palestine, particularly in Gaza.

Moreover, He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire, lifting of the siege, unimpeded access for humanitarian aid and medical supplies, and re-engagement in diplomatic efforts for a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Palestinian conflict based on a just and sustainable solution.

Moving to the issue of regional security, the Foreign Minister strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in southeastern Iran on December 15th, which claimed the lives of several Iranian security personnel.

He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms, recognizing it as a collective threat to regional peace and security. Both sides expressed a mutual desire to cooperate closely in dismantling terrorist networks and preventing future attacks.

The conversation also served as an opportunity to affirm the longstanding ties of brotherhood and cultural affinity between Pakistan and Iran.

Recognizing the deep historical roots of their relationship, the Foreign Ministers agreed to actively seek avenues for further strengthening bilateral cooperation. This includes fostering increased exchange of high-level visits and expanding engagement in diverse areas of mutual interest.

The productive exchange between Foreign Ministers Jilani and Abdollahian underscores the importance of regional collaboration in addressing pressing challenges and advancing shared goals. Both Pakistan and Iran remain committed to working together.

The discussion covered critical matters relating to the regional situation and reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to peace and stability.
