Iznik, 1 October 2022 (TDI): The 4th World Nomadic Games 2022, started at Turkiye on 29th September. The opening ceremony of the global sports competition was held at Iznik, in the district of Bursa province of the Republic of Turkiye.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the event. World Nomad Games Known as “DünyaGöçebeOyunları” in the Turkish Language is an international sports competition. Kyrgyzstan was the host country for the First Nomadic Games, held in 2014.
The second and third competitions also took place there. This year, Turkiye is hosting the event, under the slogan “We are one: From Tradition to Future”. The event refers to the celebration of nomadic tradition all over the world and is entitled the only event that endorses cultural and ethnic sports.
Remarks by President of Turkiye
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the inauguration ceremony. He stated that the key objective of the games is to promote and transfer the ancient heritage of various communities to future generations.
In addition, the President also appreciated the efforts of the organizing body of the event and expressed his good wishes to the participants.
Overview of World Nomadic Games
The event primarily promotes Central Asia’s ethnic sports, but it attracts thousands of athletes from all over the world every year. In the 2022 Games, more than three thousand participants from 102 countries are partaking.
The World Nomadic Games offer several ethnic and cultural programs. The few among them are Belt Wrestling, Mounted Archery, Horse Racing, Bone Throwing, and Eagle Hunting and the most popular game is alike Polo.
The Event will continue till 2nd October 2022. The Games lead to the enhancement of cultural diplomatic relations between the countries. It helps the countries in achieving their foreign policy goals through the mobilization and deployment of cultural resources.
Sports Minister of the Republic of Turkiye, Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu stated that the games intend to develop harmony and solidarity between the communities of the world who have strong cultural, ethnic, and historical values.
