3rd UK-China Business Leaders’ Summit held in London

London, 29 May 2024 (TDI): The Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Zheng Zeguang, emphasized the importance of firms engaging in collaboration and seeking mutual advantages as well as enhanced UK-China Business Cooperation during the 3rd UK-China Business Leaders’ Summit.

Within the context of his keynote talk during the 3rd UK-China Business Leaders’ Summit, Zheng emphasized the fact that the economic and commercial cooperation between China and Britain is not only advantageous but also in line with the fundamental interests of both countries.

“China’s economy is characterized by its openness and inclusivity, and we are committed to further decreasing the restrictive list of sectors for foreign investment,” Zheng stated.

Additionally, the ambassador stated that “in addition to already lifting restrictions in the manufacturing and financial sectors, we will also ease restrictions in the medical and telecommunications service industries”.

Moreover, China’s technological dominance, efficient industrial models, and economies of scale provide the country a competitive edge in the new energy industry, according to Zheng, who also stated that the country does not rely on government help to achieve its competitive advantage.

He stated that China’s manufacturing capability can meet the worldwide market for green energy products, which assists countries in combating inflation, accelerating the transition to green energy, and addressing concerns related to climate change.

Furthermore, the ambassador noted that China is prepared to share possibilities and provide a favorable environment for engagement with enterprises all over the world as part of its efforts to build the country.

The third annual UK-China Business Leaders’ Summit took place on May 27–29, and it is being organized by the United Kingdom Chinese Business Association. One of the objectives of the conference was to study new potential for firms in both China and the United Kingdom. It should be noted that the user’s input contains only a single bullet point symbol.

More than 400 business leaders from the UK and China attended the summit, which took place from May 27 to 29.

Lastly, Zhang Jinlong, head of the UK Chinese Business Association, has stated that the summit will now be conducted annually, rotating between the UK and China.
