15th China-Pakistan Joint Committee on Cooperation

Islamabad, 10 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong congratulated Pakistan on holding a successful 15th session of the China-Pakistan Joint Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (JEC). It was held virtually on 8 December 2021.

Pakistani Minister of Economic Affairs, Omar Ayub Khan and Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, Ren Hongbin attended the session virtually. The two sides in the meeting highlighted the achievements of the China-Pakistan Economic Cooperation (CPEC).

They agreed to strengthen the bilateral cooperation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides.

Ren Hongbin discussed ways with the Pakistani officials to enhance cooperation in the Chinese project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). They agreed that BRI provides greater opportunities for high-quality development.

The two sides in the joint session also agreed to enhance cooperation in the Coronavirus pandemic. China has been providing vaccines to Pakistan since the Covid-19 outbreak. Ren Hongbin stated that China will continue to assist Pakistan against the pandemic until Pakistan defeats the Coronavirus pandemic.

The 15th joint session ended with a success. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of the working group under the framework of JEC between Xinjiang and the Pakistani Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Another MoU was signed on poverty alleviation cooperation. Many officials from the two sides attended the virtual meeting. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan also attended the meeting.

China and Pakistan have already achieved landmark achievements under the project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The 15th session of JEC will help to further strengthen the friendship of the two ironclad friends.
