Mogadishu, 20 August 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, Somalia and Turkey celebrated the 10th anniversary of their friendly relationship in the capital Mogadishu.
Somali-Turkish relations have experienced great success over the years. The president of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, visited Somalia 10 years ago on the 19th of August 2011 when Somalia was in need because of severe drought and dire famine.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohammed Gulaid said that these 10 years of brotherly and friendly relations between Somalia and Turkey have greatly helped us to achieve intangible progress in many fields like health, education, economic development, business relationship, bilateral relations.
As a part of the strategy, Turkey has also trained nearly one-third of the Somali national army, provided the scholarship to Somali students to study in Turkey, built infrastructure, schools, and hospitals.
