The two-day conference, held on February 6-7, 2025, at the Islamabad Convention Centre, brought together key stakeholders, including international and local policymakers, corporate leaders, environmental experts, and innovators. The initiative was supported by the United Nations, as well as the Governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), serving as principal partners.
With over 15 dynamic sessions and 90 speakers from 11 countries, the conference provided a strategic platform to discuss sustainable solutions, reinforcing Pakistan’s vision for climate resilience by 2047.
A major focal point of the event was the ‘Roundtable Symposium: Igniting a Dialogue Between Government & Corporate Sector on A New Blueprint for Climate Resilience in Pakistan’. The session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, alongside top corporate executives. Nabila Yazdani, Head of Strategy, Communication & Sustainability at Zong 4G, represented the telecom sector, emphasizing the role of technology in driving sustainable solutions.
Nabila Yazdani said that Zong believes in addressing climate change with innovation and compassion, combining cutting-edge technology. She emphasized that it is about creating a future that is technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable, economically viable, and socially responsible. She also mentioned that the conference provides a vital platform for collaboration with policymakers and industry leaders to shape a greener Pakistan.
As a pioneer in green energy adoption, Zong 4G has already solarized over 1,000 cell sites, while more than 12,000 sites operate on lithium-ion batteries, significantly cutting carbon emissions and ensuring seamless connectivity. The company has also invested in an energy-efficient Tier-3 certified data center, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing operational efficiency.
Beyond technology, Zong 4G has played a vital role in disaster relief efforts.
