President Zardari Urges Stronger Economic Ties with Oman

Islamabad (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday emphasized the expanded economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Oman, as he received Omani Ambassador Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Alkharusi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the need to deepen bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two nations, which share historic, cultural, and religious bonds.

President Zardari underscored the importance of enhanced leadership-level engagement, saying it would help elevate the already warm ties between the two brotherly countries.

He particularly stressed the potential for growing trade and investment, highlighting key sectors such as information technology, construction, healthcare, food security, and energy as areas where both sides could benefit.

Zardari also called for stronger government-to-government engagement, which he said would pave the way for more private-sector collaboration, ultimately driving up economic exchanges between Pakistan and Oman.

The president thanked the Omani government for backing Pakistan’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2025–2026.
