Islamabad (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari will leave for Iraq today on a five-day official visit, following an invitation from the Iraqi president.
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, the visit highlights the longstanding and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iraq, rooted in shared cultural and religious bonds as well as mutual respect.
During his trip, President Zardari is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Iraqi leaders to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore ways to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, energy, reconstruction, manpower, technology, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
The discussions are also expected to cover regional and international developments, as well as collaboration within multilateral forums.

Officials said the visit aims to strengthen the traditionally warm ties between the two countries, identify new avenues for partnership, and promote closer people-to-people connections, particularly in areas such as religious tourism and economic collaboration.
