Kunming, 5 September 2023 (TDI): On September 3, the China Industrial Transfer & Development Matchmaking Activity (Yunnan) 2023 opened in Kunming, southwest China’s Yunnan province.
Themed “Coordinated and Open Regional Development for a Win-Win Future,” it is the first national-level industry matchmaking event held in Yunnan, and 382 projects worth a total of RMB396.6 billion are signed.
Among them, there are 6 projects with an investment of over RMB10 billion each, totalling RMB100.8 billion, and there are 14 projects with an investment from RMB5 billion to RMB10 billion, totalling RMB82.9 billion.
Projects in emerging industries like new energy, biomedicine, and new materials account for more than 60% of the total investment.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, the event aims to bring into full play its role as an important industry matchmaking platform.
It seeks to deepen regional cooperation and facilitate the building of industry chain and supply ecosystems by shoring up the industry chain of underperforming industries, extending the industry chain of dominant industries, upgrading the industry chain of traditional industries, and building the industry chain of emerging industries in light of the comparative strengths and industrial basis of Yunnan.
The ultimate goal is to serve Yunnan’s endeavour to proper the province with industry and promote its high-quality, leapfrog development.
A total of 3,100 people from 2,066 companies participated in the event, including 161 Fortune Global 500 companies, Fortune China 500 companies, top 500 Chinese manufacturers, and top 500 private Chinese enterprises.
There are 56 national manufacturing individual champions, 100 national-level specialized, high-end, and innovation-driven businesses that provide distinctive products or services, and 156 industry leaders.

Based on the reality of Yunnan, the event consists of 1 main activity, 18 special activities across 7 themes, and 2 extension activities.
With an eye to strengthening the industry chains, the 18 special activities cover 7 themes, including collaboration between industries, universities, and research institutes; matchmaking between national manufacturing individual champions and high-quality enterprises; information industry matchmaking; green light metals industry matchmaking; and energy and electronics industry matchmaking.
Additionally, inspection tours to the prefectures and cities of Yunnan will be organized for academicians and entrepreneurs, with the aim of promoting cooperation between research institutes, enterprises, and local government on the building of industry clusters and key industry chains in new energy, green aluminium-silicon, biologics, advanced equipment manufacturing, and more.
