Foreign Minister of Yemen, Bin Mubarak (L) meets GCC Secretary General on developments in Yemen (R).

Sana’a, 19 November 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Yemen, Ahmed Bin Mubarak, met the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef al Hajraf. The meeting took place today on Friday, 19 November 2021. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue 2021, in its seventieth version.

The Foreign Minister of Yemen shared concerns with Dr. Nayef al-Hajraf on the economic, political, and military developments in Yemen. He further noted the acts of violence and atrocities by the Houthi militia in Marib and Hodeidah.

Furthermore, the violations and fights have been increasing in Yemen, he said. The Foreign Minister of Yemen added attacks have taken away the advantages of Stockholm agreements to initiate the military operations on Marib, Aljawf, and Albaidha.

The Foreign Minister of Yemen, Ahmed Bin Mubarak, said that the government is putting sincere efforts in implementing the Riyadh agreement with a pragmatic and constructive approach. The part of implementing the strategies is to overcome the conflict, unite all political parties, and manage the economic challenges. Moreover, Foreign Minister Ahmed Bin, said GCC countries should come forward in support and assistance.

The GCC Secretary-General expressed his concern for Yemen’s peace and security. Al-Hajraf also reiterated the GCC’s support for regional and international peace efforts based on the three agreed-upon peace references, notably UNSCR 2216.

Gulf Cooperation Council is a political and economic platform consisting of six Middle Eastern countries as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. The objective of GCC is to keep the unity and peace between the countries and maintain the cultural and political identities together. The Gulf Cooperation Council mainly focuses on security and economic coordination. The Gulf Cooperation Council’s pivot role is its Article 4 that states should build the relations to manage and prevent the peace and security in respective countries. Yemen is of strategic and military importance to the members of the Gulf states.
