Urumqi (TDI): A new air route connecting Urumqi, the capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Minsk, the capital of Belarus, was inaugurated on Monday, Xinjiang airport authorities said.
This marks the first route in China operated by Belavia Belarusian Airlines.
The service will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft, starting with one round-trip flight per week.
The new air route is likely to strengthen connections between western China and Eastern Europe, fostering greater cooperation in areas such as investment, trade, the digital economy, green development and technological innovation, according to Xinjiang Airport Group Co., Ltd.

Since the start of the year, Urumqi International Airport has introduced 7 new international passenger routes and expanded air connections with 3 nations, including one route operated by an overseas airline.

The airport now offers a total of twenty-one international passenger routes, aiding both inbound and outbound travel from China, the company said.
