Beijing, 12 October 2021 (TDI): President of China, Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech on the “Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework” and developed a plan to preserve biodiversity in the future at COP15.

He spoke at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity via video link, from Beijing.

Xi demanded sped-up efforts to create a greener development model and ensuring a win-win solution in economic growth, environmental protection, and other aspects.

On October 4, in the UN meeting regarding biodiversity in Kunming, southwest China,  Wang Tianxi, Deputy Director of Yunnan Province’s Department of Ecology and Environment stated that carbon neutrality will be implemented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has posed a challenge for the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and cast a shadow over world economic development.

Xi called environment and ecology an economic asset and urged the countries to strengthen solidarity in order to overcome obstacles in the future and urged people to work together to achieve harmony between nature, and men.
