New York, 30 September 2021 (TDI): The 30 September is regarded as International Translation Day. The day celebrates the feast of St. Jerome, a Bible translator known as a patron saint of translators. St. Jerome was a priest in a church in the northeast of Italy. He is known for his translation of the Bible into Latin from the Greek manuscript of the New Testament.
Every year since 2005, the United Nations celebrates International Translation Day and aims to celebrate multilingualism and to highlight the important role of translators and other languages in communication technologies. The United Nations has massive employers of linguists. Several language practitioners work in UN offices of New York, Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi.
