Islamabad (TDI): Global powers have urged calm as clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border intensify, pressing both sides to halt hostilities and pursue diplomatic solutions.
China, Russia, Iran, Malaysia, the United Nations, and regional partners have all expressed concern over the recent violence.
Pakistan launched a robust response to what it described as unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban, conducting Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar confirmed that 133 militants were killed and more than 200 injured during the operation. Security forces reportedly destroyed several key Taliban positions, and Afghan forces were seen raising white flags at multiple posts following Pakistan’s counteraction.
China expressed deep concern over the escalation. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing is engaging through diplomatic channels and is ready to play a constructive role in defusing tensions.
Russian authorities also called for an immediate cessation of cross-border attacks. Moscow urged both Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve disputes through diplomatic means and offered to mediate if both parties requested assistance.
