WHO talks on SDG3 Global Action Plan

Geneva, 25 September 2021 (TDI): According to the recent news of the World Health Organization (WHO), the SDG3 Global Action Plan (GAP) was launched 2 years ago when the pandemic was around the corner. However, this plan has been proven to be useful in the global health crisis created by the COVID’19. This pandemic has shown working together for good, can help states to recover from crises and rebuild their system.

However, the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tweeted today on 25 September 2021 that WHO and 11 partners initiated the GAP on Healthy Lives & Well-Being for All, to speed up the progress on the health-related global goals for sustainable development through collective strength and power. As the main motto revolves around the impactful destination and that is only possible through a collective goal.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization further added that during the UN General Assembly meeting, 12 multilateral agencies created a joint GAP to provide better support all over the world in the future. This will help in accelerating progress towards the health-related SDGs. This action plan shows how multiple multi-dimensional humanitarian, health, and development agencies are going to support this mission and also help countries to convey global health coverage and accomplish health-related goals.

Healthy people are one of the key solutions for sustainable peace and WHO promotes this mission through GAP. This will also help in ending poverty and protect the environment which is affected by climate change. Substantial improvements have been made in main areas like health and WHO aims to redouble the efforts to achieve 2030 targets. Furthermore, the WHO Director-General commented that “the GAP plan is just a beginning, not the end, of the path”.
