Vietnamese Representatives monitor Afghanistan’s situation

Hanoi, 20 August 2021 (TDI): Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang made a statement at the virtual press conference held on August 19 about Afganistan’s situation and expects it to stabilize soon for Afghans, as well as for peace and stability in the region.

Vietnam calls upon relevant sides to refrain from the use of forces and ensure security, order, critical infrastructures, lives, and assets for Afghans and foreigners – particularly women and children – and to guarantee humanitarian access when necessary said by a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

Moreover, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy on August 16 reiterates that only a comprehensive political solution may bring long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.

In addition, it called on related sides in Afghanistan to comply with international humanitarian and human rights laws and carry out dialogues to stabilize the situations and promote peace and national reconciliation, and harmony.
