Paris, 4 November 2021 (TDI): Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chin held talks with his French counterpart, Jean Castex, on Wednesday, in Paris.
The Prime Minister is in Paris for his official visit and meetings with dignitaries of France. He reached the European country yesterday.
Vietnam’s Premier with his counterpart had shown willingness to implement the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement (EVFTA). During the meeting, they also agreed on the ratification process of the EVIPA. This will create trade and investment linkages between Viet Nam and France or the EU.

Pham Minh Chin and Castex also expressed their views on regional and international issues of shared concern, including the East Sea. They also stressed that peace should prevail through the contribution of all states, and disputes should be settled on the basis of International Law.
Both sides agreed to maintain freedom of navigation and aviation. While French Prime Minister thanked Vietnam for its support to become a development partner of ASEAN and highly valued Southeast Asia.
France also appreciated the performance of Vietnam as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the period of 2020-2021. In return, the Vietnamese Premier appreciated France for its support to fight against Covid19.
The two also attended a ceremony to sign a cooperation document between the said countries.
