Kuala Lumpur, 5 April 2023 (TDI): Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Ravshan Usmanov, conferred with Malaysia’s Deputy Secretary General for Bilateral Affairs, Norman Muhamad on 03 April 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Malaysian side was informed in great detail during the meeting about the extensive changes being made in New Uzbekistan in all areas of society & the government, as well as the nature and substance of the ongoing constitutional reforms.
Malaysia and Uzbekistan relations were established in 1992, enjoying a 30-year-long friendship and closing their ties in economic and investment cooperation.
For this Malaysian and Uzbekistan Friendship Association (MAUFA), was established in 2012. This association led to cooperation in many fields including tourism, mass media, photo tourism, etc.
The President of Uzbekistan has also made several visits to Malaysia to enhance the bilateral relations between both countries and talked about the present status and future potential of Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation.

The highlighted issues during the discussions are enhancing high-level political dialogue, growing inter-parliamentary cooperation, diversifying trade-economic and investment-related cooperation, and bolstering cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The parties agreed to maintain diplomatic ties to discuss concrete steps to implement the considerable potential that already exists to increase cooperation in the areas mentioned above.
Both countries discussed bilateral issues and agreed on a high level of exchange of visits while expressing their commitment to enhancing tourism and cultural cooperation.
The parties discussed how multilateral collaboration between Malaysia and Uzbekistan is currently going and what the future may hold.
The problems of further activation and increasing cooperation within the framework of International Organizations, particularly the UN, the OIC, and other multilateral platforms, given the most attention.
