Uzbek President Attends CIS Heads of State Meeting

St. Petersburg (TDI): President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday participated in an informal meeting of the CIS heads of state in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The meeting featured President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The meeting discussed the joint work in 2024 and also considered priority tasks of multilateral cooperation for the coming year.

“The importance of developing joint measures to expand intra-regional trade and cooperation was emphasized, primarily through further elimination of barriers to mutual trade,” a press release from the President’s Office said.

The CIS heads of state also exchanged opinions on developing multifaceted partnerships in new areas, such as engineering schools, big data industry, green energy and peaceful atom, and the implementation of digital solutions.

The growth of practical collaboration within the CIS in the fight against shared risks and problems, as well as current topics of the regional and global agenda, were also covered.
