What is EAP?
The EAP, short for Embassy Adoption Program, is a joint initiative established in 1974 by the DCPS and Washington Performing Arts. It is an exceptional educational program that provides DCPS students with a chance to explore international perspectives and learn valuable cross-cultural lessons.
The EAP creates a unique opportunity for fifth and sixth-grade students from DC Public Schools to interact with global entities like embassies, consular offices, government offices, representative offices, and other institutions. Students gain an in-depth understanding of their partner’s home country, language, customs, history, and culture.
Through direct interaction with representatives from around the world, students broaden their worldviews and gain a deeper appreciation for different cultures. The program helps to promote international understanding, encourage cross-cultural dialogue, and foster positive relationships between local schools and embassies.
EAP has been a remarkable success in providing DCPS students with an extraordinary opportunity to learn about different cultures and customs. The program has contributed significantly to promoting cultural exchange and understanding, encouraging students to become global citizens and embrace diversity.
The Program has been highly effective in promoting cultural exchange and fostering positive relationships between the diplomatic community and local schools.
