London, 22 June 2023 (TDI): US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken meets United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and discusses economic ties, support for Ukraine, and science and technological advancements at the URC summit in London.

Ukraine Recovery conference

The URC was established at the Ukraine reform conference in 2017 in London. This is the first URC meeting after the start of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine. Many countries like the US, Canada, the UK, the EU Member states, etc., are taking part in this conference to show their support and solidarity with Ukraine.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has reportedly donated three billion dollars to the Ukrainian war. The EU chief, Ursula von der Leyen, has issued fifty billion euros to the cause of Ukrainian reconstruction, and thus, the US Secretary of Chief has also donated 1.3 billion dollars in aid for the causes of energy and infrastructural needs.

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, tweets on his official account: ‘Ukraine’s recovery will become more predictable thanks to the unity and solidarity of the world. We thank all our partners for their support!’ hence this shows his gratitude and appreciation for the donations.

US-UK Relations

The close connection between the United States and the United Kingdom reflects their shared democratic beliefs and values. Moreover, these are strengthened by collaboration on political, security, and economic concerns.

The United States and the United Kingdom collaborate closely with other European partners, for instance, to combat terrorism, prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, and assure regional security.

The United States and the United Kingdom work closely together to respond to dangerous and destabilizing actions by Moscow that threaten security and erode democratic freedoms and institutions.

The Kremlin’s war against Ukraine, election interference, cyberattacks, the use of chemical weapons, the use of corrupt proxies, and human rights violations are all examples of these.
