ISLAMABAD (TDI): The United States (US) has close ties with Pakistan under Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s administration, said Donald Lu, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia.
Lu expressed optimism regarding Pakistan’s ongoing economic recovery and the essential reforms being implemented during an interview.
US Enjoys Deeper Relation with Pakistan
Following a meeting with Pakistan’s Finance Minister at the World Bank, Lu emphasized the importance of these reforms for the nation’s long-term stability and success, particularly for its youth. These reforms are mandatory for Pakistan’s future, he stated.

Lu also reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, highlighting ongoing collaboration with the Pakistani military and government.
He underscored the strong connection between the US and the people of Pakistan, reiterating that the US is dedicated to the country’s success and prosperity.

These comments come amid lingering tensions, as Lu was previously accused by Imran Khan, the founding leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), of involvement in the parliamentary vote of no-confidence that led to Khan’s ousting.
