Brasilia, 3 September 2022 (TDI): The Embassy of the US in Brazil stressed enhancing agricultural development in the country.

The US Ambassador said that Brazil and the US would work through Embrapa and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to conduct joint research.

The US Ambassador to Brazil, Douglas Koneff added that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and USDA established Embrapa.

Embrapa is an agricultural research organization in Brazil currently working on fertilizer research with the USDA.

Strengthening Agricultural Cooperation

The US Ambassador to Brazil, Koneff said that both the US and Brazil sustained high-quality food and agricultural produce. He added that both countries do not compromise on the standards related to food items.

Ambassador Koneff said that Washington, DC, and Brasilia are already collaborating closely and have continuous communication concerning agriculture. He added that both states attained strong ties regarding collective agricultural development and research.

He further acknowledged that Brazil’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul and the US are committed to joint agribusiness. He added that the state government of Rio Grande does Sul will collaborate with US agencies.

The collaboration will be for sustainable agriculture, a green economy, and economic growth.

US-Brazil Cooperation Profile

The US government announced support programs for people in the agricultural field in Brazil. USDA Cochran Fellowship Program and the International Visitor Leadership Program were initiated.

These programs will assist students, technicians, and the business community in Brazil’s agricultural sector.

These programs will enhance the agricultural sector in Brazil. These programs will also help in initiating climate-friendly development there. The exchange programs will also help strengthen cultural and agricultural relations between the US and Brazil.

The US and Brazil also cooperated in certifying the high standards of food and agricultural produce on an international level.
