Rabat, 9 September 2021 (TDI): The remarks were made in a brief statement yesterday by the US embassy in Rabat, which cited Morocco’s successful general elections as proof of the country’s democratic responsibilities.
Morocco held its third national general election since constitutional reforms were implemented in 2011. While Morocco is a kingdom, the beginning of elections has given Moroccan citizens more power to choose leaders who represent their interests in the state’s most powerful institutions. Morocco’s legislative party is currently working with four major political parties.
The embassy noted that the US and Morroco’s shared commitments to democratic processes strengthen a 200-year bilateral partnership.
