Washington DC, 3 May 2023 (TDI): The United States (US) Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently hosted the Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský for bilateral discussions as part of the US-Czech Republic Strategic Dialogue at the Department of State.
During the meeting, Secretary Blinken expressed his strong commitment to the Czech Republic as a valued NATO Ally and a key partner in regional security, military modernization, and civil nuclear cooperation.
The two leaders also reiterated their shared commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia’s brutal invasion. They discussed shared concerns about the People’s Republic of China (PRC), as well as the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Moving on, Secretary Blinken praised Czech leadership on human rights, democracy, and civil society issues, and thanked the Czech Republic for hosting Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague since 1995.
In return, the Czech Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the strong and enduring partnership between the Czech Republic and the US, highlighting the importance of the “strategic dialogue” in strengthening bilateral relations and addressing shared challenges.
For information, the US-Czech Republic Strategic Dialogue is an annual forum for high-level discussions on a range of issues of mutual interest, including security, defense, energy, economic cooperation, and human rights.
This year’s dialogue will focus on further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in areas such as military modernization, cybersecurity, and promoting democratic values and human rights.
Likewise, the US and the Czech Republic share a long history of friendship and cooperation, dating back to the early days of the Czechoslovak Republic. The two countries have worked closely to promote peace and stability in Europe and beyond, including their contributions to NATO missions and operations.
